In the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus’ charged His disciples to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.” Here at Light of the Hills, we are still going about the business of making disciples, and part of that formula involves continuing to learn from Jesus in His Scriptures (see Luke 24:44-47 and John 5:39). For our Junior High youth, one part of how we do that is through Confirmation: a two-year class of basic Christian instruction in the Bible and Lutheran doctrine, taught by Pastor Kyle Weeks. By the end of the two years, students will: 1) be able to explain the basic teachings and foundations of the Christian faith; 2) grasp how the different “scenes” of Scripture fit together in a unified narrative that climaxes in Jesus’ saving work; 3) be equipped to act out their part in God’s History today as they embark on a lifelong journey of faith toward God and loving service toward their neighbors.

This year (fall 2023 through spring 2024) we are working through the narrative of Scripture in the Old and New Testaments. If you would like to enroll your 6th-8th grade student, please call (530) 677-9536 or email Pastor Kyle. Classes begin September 17th!

Confirmation classes will be held on Sundays from 1:00 – 2:30 pm in the Conference Room upstairs in the Education Building.
