Light of the Hills’ Food Closet is proud to partner with the El Dorado County Food Bank to help prevent hunger and provide hope to those in our community. In an average month, the Food Closet volunteers bag and give food to approximately 150 households in need.

Time & Location: Food is distributed on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Tuesdays of every month from 11:00-12:00 pm. Currently food is distributed to cars through drive-up pickup at the church. Signage will be posted in the parking lot on Food Closet Tuesdays.

Contact: The church office for more information about food distribution. For more information about volunteering or to donate food and supplies, contact Karyn Huebner.

Can I pick up food for someone else? Yes, you can. We just ask that you have the person you’re picking up for fill out an “alternative pick-up request form,” which we have available here on Tuesdays upon request. However, if it’s your first time and you haven’t had a chance to fill out that form, we’ll gladly accept a copy of some form of identification for the other person that first time, be that an ID, a PG&E bill, etc.

Is there a limit to the number of times a household can receive food each month? In light of the hardship many families have experienced as a result of the pandemic, we currently do not have a limit.

The Food Bank of El Dorado County came out and took a video of our operation! Check out the video here: https://vimeo.com/815431439

“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech, but with actions and in truth.” – 1 John 3:16-18
